Galena and Sphalerite (Blende), Beauraing Mine, Belgium.

20,00

Set of brown sphalerite and black galena crystals set in white calcite in a fossiliferous rock from the Beauraing mine in the eponymous locality near Namur, Belgium.
The Beauraing mine exploited a breccia vein of galena with sphalerite as an associated mineral, the latter often being more abundant than the sought-after lead-based ore. The ore was emplaced during a post-Variscan period and filled fractures formed in the Givétien.
