Excellent historic specimen showing large crystals of fresh green siderite, but covered with a fine veil of large brown iron oxides.
A few rare breaks are present on the piece, which is usual for this type of specimen extracted at the end of the 19th century from the mine then in operation, by a miner looking for a “drink”, in secret from his employer.
Minerals from the famous La Taillat iron mines in Allevard, in the north of the Belledonne mountain range in the Isère department.
