Description

Here are 3 very blue sapphires, of very good size, some of which have automorphic faces or color variations. They are 9 mm long each.

These sapphire crystals (a variety of corundum) come from the alluvium of the Riou Pezouillou, a stream in the commune of Espaly-Saint-Marcel, near Le Puy-en-Velay, department of Haute-Loire, Auvergne, France.

These alluviums have provided numerous crystals of blue sapphire and yellow zircon. Today, it is very difficult to find them.

Specimens coming from a forgotten stock of the Taillerie de Royat, mineral trade created in 1899 by Joseph Demarty.

Great size for the deposit.
