Quartz, Bierghes quarry, Belgium.

20,00

Floating, well-recrystallized quartz crystals. Some minor defects. Beautiful transparency.

This specimen comes from the Bierghes quarry in the province of Brabant Wallon, 20 km east of Lessines and 30 km west of Brussels, Belgium.
The rock extracted is of plutonic magmatic origin, and has yielded pockets of superb quartz with a variety of facies.
In contrast to the rather young alpine quartz, these crystals are over 300 million years old. The magazine “Le Règne Minéral” devoted an article to this highly reputed Belgian deposit.
