Rare specimen of automorphic proustite (red silver) crystals associated with native arsenic and tennantite, minerals from the Gabe Gottes mine at Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines (Haut-Rhin, Alsace, Vosges mountains).
The mine was first exploited in the 16th century to extract silver ores, and was revived in the 18th century, remaining sporadically active until the 20th century (May 1940).
