Magnetite and orthoclase, Cerro Huanaquino, Potosí, Bolivia.

60,00

Good, well-individualized octahedral magnetite crystals on clear gangue, associated with fine pink crystals of orthoclase (a feldspar), from Cerro Huanaquino, Bolivia. Classic for the deposit, but remarkable for the mineral species.

Cerro Huanaquino is the eroded remnant of a dacite laccolith. The foothills feature multicoloured marls and sediments similar to the Miraflores formaton.

Several localities produce remarkable octahedral magnetite crystals.
