Imposing specimen weighing 1.5 kg, showing several large, well-expressed honey-colored calcite crystals up to 4 cm, from the famous Landelies quarry at Montigny-le-Tilleul in Belgian Hainaut.
This quarry, renowned for its intricately mottled calcite crystals, exploits the “Neffe formation” dating from the Viséen period.
It provides very pure limestone for the sugar and glass industries, as well as for the steel industry.
