Calcite, Lepoivre quarry at Biesmerée, Mettet, Namur, Belgium.

60,00

Beautiful set of perfectly automorphic calcite crystals with a lovely honey-bright color. All this on small grey calcite scalenohedrons well arranged on the gangue.

There are a few minor breaks, but very fine quality nonetheless for a specimen found in the early 1970s by one of the few prospectors who was allowed occasional access to the quarry, then in operation (closed since the 1980s).

This calcite comes from the Lepoivre quarry in Biesmerée, a section of Mettet, in Belgium’s Namur province.
