Calcite and sphalerite, Trier, Gard.

1200,00

Remarkable group of good, slightly yellow, translucent pseudo-rhombo-dodecahedral calcite crystals, associated with fine orange sphalerite crystals.

The specimen is entirely crystallized and has very fine volumes.

The four main calcite crystals are nicely mottled.

These Trèves calcite crystals represent the best of French calcite.

The Trèves deposit in the Cevennes (Gard), initially mined for zinc and lead and now inaccessible, has provided some very fine examples of calcite, among the most prized by French collectors.
