Description
This specimen comes from the Bierghes quarry in the province of Brabant Wallon, 20 km east of Lessines and 30 km west of Brussels, Belgium.
The quarried rock is of plutonic magmatic origin, and has yielded pockets of superb quartz with varied facies.
In contrast to the rather young alpine quartz, these crystals are over 300 million years old. The magazine “Le Règne Minéral” devoted an article to this renowned Belgian deposit.
