Description
Typical specimen of native arsenic in bacillary arsenic, accompanied by scorodite, from the Gabe Gottes mine (-100 level) at Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines (Haut-Rhin, Alsace, Vosges mountains).
The mine was first exploited in the 16th century to extract silver ores, and was revived in the 18th century, remaining sporadically active until the 20th century (May 1940).
